Plant Pampas Grass

Pampas grass once established is a very hardy and healthy plant. But take note and prepare before you go and plant pampas grass as you should know a few things before you do. These plants are beautiful when in full bloom just make a plan before you plant them and here are a few things to think about.

First these plants grow large, larger than most. They do not make a good choice for somebody to plant one that is in a flower bed right next to a house or pathway. They can and will grow big and round. Pampas grass can grow as high as 9 feet (maybe even taller) and as wide around as 4 to 4 feet if not properly trimmed. Their evergreen leaves are relatively long and can range 3 to 6 feet in length. Serious consideration should be taken before planting one of these ornamental grasses as their leaves are sharp and can and will cut you.

One good point to mention here is that pampas grass can easily adapt to their surrounding environment. They are not particular to climate and temperature and can blossom virtually anywhere. Because of this, they spread easily and each plant is capable of bearing well over a million seeds during it's existence which in turn can make this ornamental grass not so desiring. In fact, people are banned to plant pampas grass already in Hawaii and California due to this fact.

All in all, still a beautiful plant. If you have the means and the space, pampas grass is an excellent option for filling the void.
