Bold and beautiful displays of pampas grass appear along the coastlines and in yards all across this country every fall. One of my favorite times of year. This plant though looms large. You can read more on it's sheer girth and precautionary advice when you plant pampas grass here. Being so large and if you have a large yard to boot, there's a very attractive option to dress it up and secure and define your property borders in the process.
Picture this, house in a field all by itself or better yet, a house on a corner lot with no fence obstructing the view into your backyard or your neighbors. Pristine lawn, and a view that show's your neighbor John watering his roses in the middle of the afternoon, with no shirt on. You'd have to know John to know that this just ruined any plans you may have had for dinner later that evening. I won't go into any further details other than that. Have no fear, pampas grass is here.
You could plant pampas grass in a nice pretty little row directly down your property line. Now imagine that! A scene taken directly out of a photographic magazine. Plants lined up nice and proper. Trim and straight as an arrow. Tufts of silver plums displaying majestically down a line and swaying with the wind. No more John. Heck, he couldn't even come through cause if he did, the pampas plants would get him with their sharp little leaves.
Although it wouldn't be an immediate fix as it would take a while for the plants to mature and gain the needed size and come to fruition. But not that long. These plants are hardy and once they take root, they typically flourish pretty well and in a short couple of years you will have an impenetrable wall, a bonified fortress on your hands.
